Calvin, according to his creator Bill Watterson, "is named for a sixteenth-century theologian who believed in predestination." So there is some theological value to this comic! :)

Of course, these comics with Calvin and his tv show reminded me of the lyrics to Brad Paisley's song titled "Celebrity", a parody of the culture of celebrity (idolatry) that we have created here in the USA. It is funny and sad at the same time because there is so much truth in what he has written in this song!
